Elective Courses  I  Attendance Policy

To complete your Edwards MBA, in addition to the Professional Skills Development Program and the International Study Tour, you must obtain 42 credit units:

  • four 3-credit unit courses (including the management consulting project)
  • fifteen 2-credit unit courses: 11 core courses (including the integrative modules) and 4 electives

Elective Courses

The Edwards MBA allows students to take 8 credit units of elective courses. The Edwards School of Business offers a variety of electives within disciplines and industry specific areas of interest. These include bioTechnology, Finance, International Business and Organizational Dynamics.  Each of these courses are 2 credit units so students would have the option of choosing four courses within their area of interest.

The Edwards MBA also allows the consideration of other University of Saskatchewan graduate level courses upon consultation with the MBA Director.  Among the full list of potential electives, some of your options include Health Services Management courses offered through the School of Public Health, International Trade courses offered through the Master of International Trade program, Agricultural Economics courses offered through the College of Agriculture and Bioresources, Education Leadership courses offered through the College of Education, or Public Policy courses offered through the Graduate School of Public Policy.  Courses would be conditional upon meeting the respective course pre-requisites.

Elective courses allow you to personally construct your individualized MBA and enhance your unique skill set.

Attendance Policy

Participation in and exposure to class discussion is critical for mastery of the subject matter, to achieve the learning outcomes and maximize the learning environment.  As well, the Edwards MBA Program emphasizes the development of high standards of professional conduct.

Punctuality:

Punctual attendance is expected at all lectures, seminars, professional development sessions and scheduled activities of the MBA program.  It is recognized that a student may be unavoidably delayed on occasion; however, arriving late can be very disruptive to colleagues and faculty members.  It is at the faculty member’s discretion how poor punctuality will be handled.

Attendance:

Regular attendance in all MBA courses is mandatory, unless absence is unavoidably caused by illness or compassionate reasons.  If this is the case, the student is expected to contact both the instructor and the MBA office in advance where possible; documentation may be required.

If a student misses more than 15% of a course, the student may not be allowed to write/submit the final examination for that course.
