
This is a leading edge course in management accounting which serves to blend traditional management accounting with best practice management concepts. The course focuses on developing a solid understanding of management control systems, with a particular focus on performance management. Building upon the concepts of strategy formulation and implementation, this course aims to provide a holistic view of performance management. The course will study a variety of tools and techniques that organizations use to manage all elements of performance. Examples of tools and techniques studied include balanced scorecards, strategy mapping, change management, business process improvement, risk analysis, customer relationship management, quality, six sigma and activity based costing. Upon completion of the course, students will have a solid grounding in management techniques that are highly relevant and "in demand" in today's business world. The course will also take a practical business case approach to ensure concepts are learned in an applied "practitioner oriented" manner.
