The Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.) program exposes students to important business issues very early in the curriculum. First years students will have a more integrated first year experience, with wider exposure to management concepts in key areas such as organizational behaviour, business communications and decision making. The second year of core business courses focus on the areas of specialization offered by the School. There is also the opportunity to gain a greater scope of knowledge with the non-Commerce elective options. Students entering third year will specialize in one of six majors and conclude fourth year of the program with business policy and management skills classes. The Bachelor of Commerce degree consists of 120 credit units.
In 2006 and thereafter, upon first admission to the Edwards School of Business, students must complete the degree requirements within a ten (10) year time period. Under exceptional circumstances, the School may grant an extension.
Students returning to the program after an absence of 5 years or more will be placed under the curriculum requirements in effect on the date of readmission.
Students enrolled in the program starting in September 2006 will complete the 2006 curriculum. Students enrolled in the program prior to September 2006 will complete the 1996/2001 curriculum. Transition regulations for students completing the 1996/2001 curriculum follow:
There are three types of courses on campus - six (6) credit courses, three (3) credit courses, and zero (0) non-credit required courses. Six credit (or two term) courses run from September to April. The three credit courses that run from September to December are designated as Term 1 and those offered January to April are designated as Term 2. The non-credit courses are offered in workshop format and are irregularly scheduled. Please note the start dates of these non-credit courses.
